Curlew sandpiper, サルハマシギ

These 2 birds in their summer outfit came close to the quay to find food. Watch those faces! Their Japanese name means monkey dunlin, referring to the monkey type markings. I don't see much of a monkey face in there myself, but they look funny.

Checking the sky every minute

Taking a rest, waiting for the tide.

When the tide rolled in, they retreated to a place under the tree at the nakashima island.

Also at low tide along the quay were about 10 Dunlins, ハマシギ. They look smart in their summer colors.

Migrating visitor Grey-tailed Tattler, キアシシギ Loves crab!

And there was 1 Red-necked Stint, トウネン

The Whimbrels, チュウシャクシギ - about to land

Fishing Egrets, The one on the left caught 1 fish after the other without taking 1 step.
