Japanese Robin, コマドリ again

 I went to the park again the next day to see the Japanese Robin. It was still there and moving around so we could see it easily

It was still very dark in the early morning, but he managed to find a worm. Male Japanese Robin, コマドリ ♂ 

2 Brown-headed Thrushes, アカハラ were feeding nearby

Later in the morning light conditions seemed better

The Flycatchers were heard calling, but I could not see any. So I enjoyed myself with the Buntings.

Masked/Black-faced Buntings, アオジ

What kind of caterpillar is that, can I see?

Long-tailed Tits, エナガ flew by with their kids in tow.

Little color, but such a sweet face!

It was a pleasant morning around the park, though some summer birds don't show yet

Emberiza 2: Black-faced Bunting, シベリアアオジ

Next a long-time-no-see bird. I'm not sure what to call this bunting in English. Is this the Black-faced Bunting and would that name replace the common "aoji" with the name Masked Bunting? I will just keep it this way for now. There were many around the fields as well as open areas near the forest.

The females seemed easier to capture

White spotlights along a dark forest road: Small-leaf Spiderwort, トキワツユクサ

Last a big hopper that wanted to have its picture taken

White-bellied Green Pigeon, アオバト

So pretty when the light is right and the surroundings clear. First a female landed gracefully, sliding out of the dark clusters of branches above onto the small clearing. Fallen Camellia (ツバキ) flowers and acorns littered the place.

 She didn't eat much and left after a few minutes. Next a very hungry male plopped down.

More than 10 went down his throat some where. Could he still fly?

Other birds payed a visit: Pale Thrush, シロハラ

went sensibly for the more digestible flowers.

Many people walked by in the park, admiring Japanese Sakura

Eating from their pick nick bento's, feeding the gulls... Whatever non-birding people do in a park on a sunny day in March

Nomozaki peninsula, near Nagasaki city juts out at sea towards the south-west, making it an excellent landing spot for migrating birds arriving in spring. To get there we have to drive a few hours, but that's part of the fun. There were 2 unusual visitors hanging out in a neglected vegetable patch and a lot of old birding friends.

 2 males. The one on the left a bit younger than the other bright yellow colored bird. And/or still in winter plumage.
