Indian Pond Heron, インドアカガシラサギ 2

Continuation of part 1
Usually a shy kind of bird. But the crowd of curious birders, photographers and locals doesn't seem to bother him much.


Got lucky with a fresh water crab-type creature







Stretching these wings a bit, flying well, not going very far.





Taking the time for preening in the shade of a tree

Why did this bird, who's home is thousands of miles from here come to Fukuoka? Just caught in a typhoon? That seems quite unlikely to me, though that is how it probably hurt its right leg. What ever happened, where it came from, we'll never know.


All by itself in a city park. His sore leg doesn't keep him from foraging.
