On our winter tour we stopped at several rivers. In winter the mountains are often too dark, but river life becomes a bit more visible. It's fun to watch even the common birds. The water flow was strong, but the small Common Sandpiper, イソシギ waded easily and confidently nipped at tidbits, without losing its balance.
End of December, the Brown Dippers カワガラスwere flying in pairs. It's that time of the year for them already. Their song sounds beautiful!
At another river no Dippers, but a Long-billed Plover, イカルチドリ
A Crested Kingfisher ヤマセミstopped on the wires briefly.
The usual Japanese wagtail, セグロセキレイ
...and Common Kingfisher, カワセミ
On the way back a surprise encounter. Japanese Sika Deer, ニホンジカ
Through the window😏
