Kanatake walk Sept 15th

After many rainy days we had a short break before a typhoon would set in and that happened to be this morning. So lucky! Not knowing when I would get a chance again I overloaded the memory card on my Nikon. Pfff. Hence all these photos. But some, for example the mushrooms, were really worth it. They don't last long.

Nosasage  It seems to be a good year for them

Harlequin Glorybower,

Kobesomaimai

Flowers of  Adlay, aka Job's Tears,

Japanese Broadwinged Katydid,

Laying her eggs in a tiny stream right in front of us, a giant dragonfly, Oniyanma sp,

Cute little spiders in autumn, Wakiguro Satsumanomidamashi.
What a long name for such a tiny spide. It is the size of a pea. Should be called Pea spider 😁

A reddish colored Fishing spider,

Finally I can recognize this red dragonfly. Mayutateakane

Ever so pretty, they love our wet summer I think. Asiatic Dayflower,

When most butterflies look worn out in autumn, this one is refreshing
Himeuranami Janome

Giant Ragweed,

Sesuji Tsuyumushi Grasshopper

There was this Dragonfly sitting on top of the pole and it didn't look anything special at first, but then someone had a good look and saw the broad wings. Hanebiro tombo

Many birds that were attracted by the freshly cut grass and the insects that appeared circled around the field where the man at work were using there cutting machines. There were several swallows and martins.

The Mantis insects were well represented. A few big ones proved to be チョウセンカマキリ, Chosen kamakiri. Check the orange dot

Mantis sp with a different pattern on its back: Giant Asian Mantis,

In the "new pond": Bullfrog,

2 Flowers that look alike, but the leafs are quite different.
Black nightshade (イヌホオズキ)

But the leafs are very different

Mushrooms can take all sorts of shapes and colors. With the speed they appear and disappear they seem to have some magical power. Which some really do
Karebakitsunetake ?

Karebakitsunetake ?

These remind me of  acorns. They are Collared Earthstar, Erimaki Tsuchiguri

Shirosoumentake, Coral Fungus sp. Like spaghetti coming out of the earth

There are not many caterpillars to be found this year. I was super happy to discover this one. The flower in the water is common, but I don't have a name yet.
Hiretagobou

Another sign of autumn: jumping and flying grasshoppers everywhere!

The first (or second) of many more to come: Young Ramie caterpillar,

Ramie caterpillar

Numagaeru (ヌマガエル) Fejervarya kawamurai

Heard "achi kochi" , left and right: Bull-headed shrike,

Red Spiderlilies, but they are not lilies.
With an Old World Swallowtail,

Inago Grasshoppers or Locusts were jumping left right and center
