Kanatake walk October 18th

Autumn weather, it's so comfortable. Many people gathered for the walk and enjoyed the cool breeze on a sunny day. I should look for birds, but there are hardly any and my attention wanders to butterflies and other small stuff. Should I change this blog?

The early morning brings cool air

Around 9am, when the sun rises and the world warms up, butterflies start to come out.

White Admiral,

Flowers turn into fruit.   Dumasia truncata,

Amphicarpaea bracteata,

Winter brambles brighten up the forest

Wow, this wing! Of the most beautiful moth. Erasmia pulchella

And another one. The beauty died right here.

Another moth, alive and well, protected by its camouflage

The Nodake was in bloom at the usual location. And we found one more.
Angelica decursiva

Small and pretty: Lycium chinense,

Enormous mushroom, don't know what kind

Isodon,

Japanese Broad-winged Katydid,

Looking kind of angry

Way up in the Sugi tree, cocoons? 繭?

Peacock Pansy,

Female Black Fritillary,

At last some birds. The Stonechats had arrived. We could see only a few from our walking course, but in fact there was a small flock. Stejneger's Stonechat,
