Despite the hot weather warnings it was a pleasant walk, mostly under the trees and not too hot. There were very few birds, just 13 species, including sparrows and crows! Also no caterpillars. The most exciting thing was a Yamato Jewel beetle, XXX sitting briefly on a fence at eye level. Here is what we saw:
