The convenience of electricity

Where would we be without electricity? I often contemplated this question when we were cruising on our sailboat and sometimes spent 3 or 4 weeks at sea on a passage. Out there our supply of electrical power was limited and the use was enormously restricted. We didn't have anything like solar panels in those days. But then we didn't have a fridge or a microwave either. Now this month I was reminded a few times that not only us humans thrive in the comfort of living with electricity. Birds and insects do too. Look at the wildlife around the wires and inside the relay boxes. You'd be surprised!

Varied Tit, ヤマガラ

What better place could there be for your nest than inside an electric relay box?

Snug in the winter, enjoying the extra warmth inside.

Various Ladybugs, テントウムシ

High and dry up the electricity pole, the Oriental Magpie's yearly practice run. カササギ
(They build various nest-type constructions before they settle on one.)
