This time we left mid-morning and stopped at the Water Lily park first. The place looks horrendously run down, but that makes it kind of nice in a "nature is taking over" way.
Japanese Iris, 菖蒲
Nuphar japonicum, コウホネ
Some Waterlily, not native I think
From there to Choojabaru to check out the field birds. My favorite: Chestnut-eared Bunting, ホオアカ
Still in the process of building nests.
There were many other birds, mostly heard rather than seen, like sekka, kakko, segurokakko, Woodpeckers, Scaly Thrush, Kibitaki, Japanese Thrush and many Tits
White-backed Woodpecker, オオアカゲラ
Lots of hikers were climbing the mountain to see the Rhododendron Kiusianum, ミヤマキリシマ
Below a different kind - there are so many!
Heard from miles away: White-bellied Green Pigeon, アオバト
As always a Grey Wagtail, キセキレイ was flying around the hot spring
Handsome male
The lady was there as well
Japanese Grosbeak, イカル providing some pleasant BGM
Of course the cheeky Eurasian Jay, カケス would not pose
Switching to macro: Sedum subtile, ヒメレンゲ
Wakaranai. Maybe a garden plant?
Last: just a bit of scenery along the way
