A little over 2 days in my favorite place in Kyushu. I was wondering which birds had arrived for the summer. At the various checkpoints I could hear the calls of Blue-and-White Flycatchers, Narcissus Flycatchers, Japanese Thrush, and Japanese Robin. But none were eager to come out. While I waited, I enjoyed myself with the small tits and other birds that are usually there.
The morning was cold, minus 3C. This Chestnut-eared Bunting, ホオアカ was warming itself in the first sun rays
Coal Tit, ヒガラ were happily feeding around me
picking at aphids
Fearless. At my feet!
No leaves on the trees yet to block my view of a White-backed Woodpecker, オオアカゲラ
Same with the Jays, カケス
The up-side-down Nuthatch, ゴジュウカラ
At the usual spots, Wren, ミソサザイ
Singing the usual songs
Finally, the far-away Narcissus Flycatcher, キビタキ came into view. April 9th
