terns and others

Watching the birds fly at the peek of high tide, when the mud flat is completely submerged. Dunlins always give an excellent air show.

When they come to rest at 'our' side of the fence we can see some up close. But not too close...

Mostly Dunlins, ハマシギ and Kentish Plovers, シロチドリ and there is that pinkish breast of the Lesser Sand Plover, メダイチドリ

Is that a Whimbrel, チュウシャクシギ in there? No, Long-billed Dowitcher, オオハシシギ!

Waiting for birds to return after the turn of the tide we watched 3 Whiskered Terns, クロハラアジサシ flying by for a quick feed

At least 100 Saunders's Gulls, ズグロカモメ could be seen flying back and forth, scanning the mud patches on the high side.

Bigger birds with long legs are the last to leave and first to return. Eurasian Curlew, ダイシャクシギ

Other birds included Common Greenshank, Bar-tailed Godwit, Common Shelduck and other ducks, Black-faced Spoonbills, Vega Gulls.
