A bleeding tree

The sap of copse trees must be quite special. There are so many different insects that come for a feed. It's worth a blog post.

The butterfly below had me fooled. It's not the 5-ringed, but a Hikagechou,

Many Drone Beetles, カナブン come and go, making that buzzing sound that they are named for.
Here they surround a couple of Hirata Stag Beetles,

The big male shields the smaller female and keeps the other beetles at bay, so the lady can have a good feed. She has to produce eggs, so she needs it.

Note how he keeps his legs on her. Affectionate

The female briefly all by herself

Siren, (Gomadarachou)

Goschkevitschi’s Labyrinth, (Satokimadarahikage)

Dark Evening Brown, (Kurokonomacho)

Japanese Giant Hornet, (Oosuzumebachi)

This insect I don't know. Looks like a wasp with a funny tail

Kyushu Namiko Giseru, キュウシュウナミコギセル is a door snail

Egg capsules of what?

Kataboshieguri ookinokomushi,

Scarab Beetle or Drone Beetle, (Kanabun)

Hirata Stag Beetle,
