Pacific Loon, シロエリオオハム (winter plumage) and others at the coast
There was no big flock, as other years, but a few birds were seen here and there. This one came feeding close to the rocks near the shore.

Another trip at sea 2, Cormorants etc
Cormorants again. In grey-ish weather we can't quite see the birds' colors, however their profile doesn't look too bad.
Below 2 Pelagic Cormorants, ヒメウ (in front and far left) and 3 Temminck's, ウミウ
Temminck’s Cormorant ウミウ
This time we scored 3 Falcons, all of them seemed to have a nest. Peregrine Falcon, ハヤブサ
A pair of Ospreys, ミサゴ on the very top;
And the dark morph of Pacific Reef Egret, the only one we can see here in Japan. クロサギ
On the other side of Genkai Island Loons were feeding in a big flock.

It must be good to live around Genkaishima

Cruising the coast
After a last bout of snow the weather improved. Time to check the shoreline and see what's up.

角島, Tsunoshima 5
The last post of this day, the last birds of Tsunoshima and that little harbor across.
ウミウ, Temminck's
Cormorant
From a distance they look so much like the Great Cormorant that we get in Fukuoka.
Today I could distinguish them by the shape of the base of the bill quite well.

and シロエリオオハム, Pacific Loon
A familiar fishing harbor sight
