Eurasian Siskin, マヒワ and some more

I went to the same place on a warm winter day. The small flock of Siskins remained hiding in the trees till midday, when they ventured out to their watering hole. Green Pigeons were calling.

At the orange orchards.

My camera likes the oranges rather than the small fast moving birds.

Warbling White-eyes, メジロ

A single female Elegant Bunting, ミヤマホオジロ showed up as well.

Nishi koen, City park in Fukuoka

Walking around my usual checkpoints, I felt very few birds were around. I kept on meeting the same ones over and over. Then I decided on a different field. This city park I hardly ever visit and I was surprised.

I came to see the Japanese Grosbeaks, イカル, but that first afternoon I could not take a photo.

The day after I found Grey Bunting, クロジ

Red-flanked Bluetail, ルリビタキ

and Yellow-throated or Elegant Bunting, ミヤマホウジロ

Daurian Redstarts, ジョウビタキ are everywhere and they are easy to capture

practicing birds in flight. Difficult!

Masked Bunting (or Black-faced Bunting?), アオジ - the park has its share

When a mixed flock passes by I'm so busy!
Long-tailed Tit, エナガ

Light-vented Bulbul, シロガシラ and its neighbors

Finally, the Light-vented Bulbul, シロガシラ. There were so many things going on, it nearly landed in the "Forgotten items" box. It is not an easy bird to capture, it took me quite some time. But here it is.

Around the same time, at the same creek: juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron, ゴイサギ

Japanese Bush Warblers, ウグイス are often heard saying ch ch ch, but on sunny days I sometimes hear their song.

Flying across the creek, Eurasian Sparrowhawk, ハイタカ

In the early morning: Common Greenshank, アオアシシギ
The reeds worked nicely for me as a hide and a soft filter

Common Kingfisher, カワセミ as usual at the opposite bank of the creek

Seasonable sightings in the park

The flycatcher season has started. The park on the hill is still quiet. Birds reluctantly come forward, but they are there. Taking photos is a bit of a challenge, though.

The Japanese Thrush, クロツグミ was just as surprised to see me as I was to see him. He disappeared quickly and did not show up anymore

Hidden in a dark bush, where it felt safe, I guess. Narcissus Flycatcher, キビタキ

Another young bird, equally shy

Singing its heart out, male Japanese Robin, コマドリ ♂

The only bird that showed itself freely and came to sit 2m away from me, female Japanese Robin, コマドリ

Japanese Bush Warbler, ウグイス Fukuoka city's bird

Masked/Black-faced Buntings, アオジ are everywhere

At the end of the day a Narcissus Flycatcher, キビタキ that was willing to pose briefly

It's a start
