Small stuff achi kochi

Continued from previous post. The nurses have finished checking my bandages and are back at their station. I take out my laptop and I find so many small treasures in June's photo album, I cannot possibly post them all. 

West Fukuoka: Young Wagtails, exploring their world, White Wagtail, ハクセキレイ

Jumping out of the green wild bush: Gooseneck Loosestrife, オカトラノオ

I was worried that the people with their big nets would find it. It's been here 2 weeks now. So far so good. メスグロヒョウモン · Sagana Fritillary

At the usual tree the first beetles have arrived

It's the perfect weather for Rain Lilies, サフランモドキ. The Large Skipper, キマダラセセリ likes them as well.

This year they appear "everywhere" Short-tailed Blue, ツバメシジミ

Japanese Grass Lizard, ニホンカナヘビ

This perfectly shaped orange blob was calling me from far. 

In one corner of the park were clusters of young pretty Stinkbugs, nymphs of the Southern Green Stink Bug, ミナミアオカメムシ

They like to huddle together

Contrary to the birding fields in the rest of Kyushu, Fukuoka gets few Pipits and Buntings. So, when I see some, I stop to watch.

In Kanatake, during the walk, the caterpillars of the Japanese Siren butterfly, ゴマダラチョウ, were seen on the Chinese Celtis tree, エノキ, where they would fall to the ground and wait out the cold winter.

March is over - the cold days, too? I hope so. After the snow in the 3rd week of March everything happened at once. Suddenly the swallows arrived and the cherry trees were in bloom. 2 Little Ringed Plovers roamed on the grass next to the dock in the harbor. The Blue Rock Thrushes are singing their heart out, till late at night. Checking my various points in the west:

Juvenile Sparrowhawk, ハイタカ - gender unknown

A White Wagtail. Motacilla alba leucopsis, ホオジロハクセキレイ? or lugens, ハクセキレイ without an eye line? Looking at the bill and shape of the head, I think the latter 

A Rustic Bunting, カシラダカ in Imazu. 

The American Wigeon, アメリカヒドリ has been here all winter

A female Bull-headed Shrike, モズ waiting for her mate

Little Ringed Plovers, コチドリ in the harbor

At the damlake the Mandarin Ducks, オシドリ were very active - preparing to leave.

I didn't see these flowers last year, nor the year before. So I made an effort.
