Eastern Marsh Harrier, チュウヒ

Lovely to have them so close to home: 2 juvenile female Marsh Harriers. Isn't that promising!

With tombi

Even on a sunny day with hardly any wind both were active
And 1 came quite close.

November birds 2

And then, one rainy day, there were 6 Geese; 3 of them Greater White-fronted Geese, yearly visitors to Fukuoka. But the others, 3 Bean Geese had not stopped by in recent years.

below the 3 Tundra Bean Geese, ヒシクイ

Next the 3 Greater White-fronted Geese, マガン

The White-fronted seemed to be much more at ease than the Bean Geese, who were constantly watching their surroundings.
Once more all 6 of them.

November birds 1

It is November, we might get to see something special. So I cruised the fields and got a call...
Yes! Very special indeed.

Not the Lapwings, they come every year. But their colors are so pretty when the weather is good, could not resist a few shots. Northern Lapwing, タゲリ

Not the Starlings, although they are not seen every day.
Common Starling, ホシムクドリ

Neither the Pipits, but this ball of fluf wanted to be in here.
Water Pipit, タヒバリ

And certainly not the Kestrel, but previous postings didn't include an adult male. So:
male Eurasian Kestrel, チョウゲンボウ

But... Here is a Long-eared Owl, トラフズク

Perched in a tree as if it belonged there. The next day it was gone.

Raptor day

Had to drive a way, but was happy to find the bird at its usual place:
Merlin, コチョウゲンボウ  I LOVE this bird!

There was the expected Harrier, a female I think.
Eastern Marsh Harrier, チュウヒ

And the resident Osprey, Osprey, ミサゴ who let me come so close

I was hoping to see the male Hen Harrier and the Pied Harrier, but the weather was too good. Sun, no wind... They didn't fly.

A recent visit to Italy: Imperia 2

'My time' was before breakfast, getting up before dawn, walking around the extensive harbor to the sea to watch the sunrise.

First signs of a new day

With the Monaco Boat show around the corner many mega yachts gathered in the area.
How many millions of dollars were there afloat? It could probably feed some African nation for more than a year.

Nearly there

Time to turn around

Recent visit to Italy 1

Photos are taken in and around Imperia in Liguria and the country side north of the town. First the mountain villages Villatalla, Tavole and Dolcedo.
In September the days are hot and sunny. The light is harsh, creating deep shadows. A little cloud cover made it all look a bit softer.
