It's dark in the forest. And humid. But that's where we meet. Every year. Please don't ever give up!

Blue-and-White Flycatcher, オオルリ
A few hours in the park on April 28th. It was surprisingly quiet. He??? It's end of April, we should hear many migrating birds! Only the Thrushes were calling. I walked around, a flycatcher was quickly flying up. A female Blue-and-White. A second one stopped by, ever so briefly. Asian Brown. Around the flower beds some butterflies were active. Then, just when I wanted to leave, a Yellow Flycatcher came to take a bath.
Narcissus Flycatcher, キビタキ
16 April, I made it to the park. Checking the usual locations, all was quiet. But at last I found the place where birds were active and a Flycatcher perched in a cherry tree.
Blue-and-White Flycatcher, オオルリ
After the quiet summer weeks, birds in the mountains are active and on the move now. Flycatchers do their thing: chasing each other, fighting over territory, especially the juveniles. They have a lot to learn.
So cute, this fledgling. Is it an Asian Brown Flycatcher, コサメビタキ?

Grey-streaked Flycatchers, エゾビタキ are flying by all the time
The Blue-and-white Flycatcher, オオルリ family was stealing the show. Brave enough to come out of the dense forest at midday, but only briefly. Other birds seemed to respect them.
