Summer trip to Mt. Hakusan part 3, Shirakawago, White Road

Continued from previous posts

We didn't want to deal with the vacationing crowds at Shirakawago, but we had not been to the museum on a previous visit (4 years ago) and I really regretted that. So, we made a plan. Jaap dropped me off before opening time and I strolled around the village at 7am. Perfect! However... I got lost...

 Shirakawago

The Minkaen open air museum opens after 9am. When I got there, I had to wait a little while and then realized I'd forgotten my purse! Jaap came to the rescue and eventually joined me after parking Billie.

The area was quiet, as most people head to the main village first.
There are lots of wild flowers and the place teems with dragonflies and other creatures. A real treat!
After that: Back to Ishikawa. The White Road again. But now with blue-ish skies and brighter light, leaning towards sunshine.

First the Honeysuckle Bee Hawkmoth, クロスキバホウジャク again

Next, a wasp attacking a caterpillar that I really had not noticed until it appeared on my pc screen.

The sunshine brought out lots of butterflies
Eurasian White Admiral, イチモンジチョウ   Limenitis camilla

Japanese Flash, トラフシジミ   Rapala arata  For me a bit of a rarity

 Large Map, サカハチチョウ  Araschnia burejana

They sure like these flowers.

Hundreds!
