In the park

Many birds were there this morning. Not always easy to photograph. Some not captured at all!
The migrating birds seemed reluctant to come forward. I wonder if that had anything to do with the recent earthquakes. Probably.

Barely visible, but he was there!  Japanese Paradise Flycatcher,

Narcissus Flycatcher, キビタキ the male

and female

 and female

Asian Brown Flycatcher,

Once more, Narcissus Flycatcher,

Great Reed Warbler, オオヨシキリ and some of his neighbors

Great Reed Warbler, オオヨシキリ doing a great job at singing his heart out

Just around the corner: Water Rail,

Towards the river:  Dunlin, With summer-black breast feathers

Talking about breeding colors! Grey Heron,

Another colorful sight: Common Snipe,

Further west, still around: Black-winged Stilts,

As well as Greater Painted-snipe,

Is she going to stay? Does she have a mate?

Imazu area in the 3rd week of April

Some late afternoon shots, under soft light conditions. The best time.

Common Greenshank,

Sharp-tailed Sandpiper,

nice to be able to compare

The Wood Sandpiper felt lonely I guess. There weren't many of his buddies around. Next I saw him in company of Common Snipe,

Way at the back a Long-toed Stint, The only one I have seen so far.

At last the Wood Sandpiper, タカブシギ found his mates

Mid-April on Noko Island

Generally on the way to work, when I can take an early ferry.

First Blue-and-white Flycatcher, オオルリ  Not a very good image, but it was the first of the season, on the 14th.

The next day the lady was there as well.

Next a surprise at a Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker, コゲラ nest

The chick flew and left the nest when a Long-tailed Tit stole the food that a parent was bringing to the nest. The parent left in search for more and the chick followed the Tit...

Only identifiable by its song

Black-faced Bunting,
