Peregrine Falcon, ハヤブサ doing what he does best

The show started right in front of me. I watched it for a while. But I didn't see the actual catch. Which I don't regret...

There you go again

At the breakfast site

What a mess!

Teal? コガモ?

Warbling White-eye, メジロ

The sunny days of December... they lasted so long.

Ferruginous Duck, メジロガモ

There were 2 males, very reluctant to come close.

At the usual corner I jumped over the ditch... and missed. Spread out like an eagle I lay in the grass for a minute. The sun was warm and it all felt like summer, but I knew this was the last time for me to jump that ditch. At least with camera gear in my hands. 😅😎😅

One of the Ferruginous Ducks, メジロガモ with white eyes and a white bum

The other one, equally far away...

Finally, the 2 of them in one shot. But... are they both Ferruginous?

Thanx to Mr. H: possibly Hybrid Common Pochard and Bear's Pochard

Baikal Teals, トモエガモ

On December 7/8 a huge flock of Baikal Teals landed on Fukuoka. They were seen from the east to the west, on the coast and in dam lakes by the hundreds. Wow, what a sight!

Eurasian Bittern, サンカノゴイ and some more

Fairly big birds, that would be hard to miss. However, once they hit the reeds they become invisable. So when I saw one flying I counted my blessings.

Coming straight at me with a funny expression on its face

On the same day there were many Pipits in the field. All Buff-bellied. タヒバリ

Yet another hawk at sunrise Eurasian Sparrowhawk, ハイタカ

Sunrise at the t-pond

It's early, it's cold. I'm thinking of my warm bed. The Spoonbills at the pond are preening. I'm watching the smaller bird on the right. The Pied Avocet, ソリハシセイタカシギ

As the golden sun rises above the horizon the light becomes stronger. My target birds is waking up.

On the move

Off to...

...a dark corner in the pond. I can just see him behind the Cormorants

On the way back...

...to where the Shovelers are

Momentarily acting Shovel-like

Northern Shovelers, ハシビロガモ doing their thing

Bringing the plankton up by moving around in a circle

Or in a line

Lucky encounter!
