Little Terns, コアジサシ

The WBSJ in Saga has set up a project to protect breeding Terns. Many Little Terns nest on a gravel area between farmlands and canals, exposed to all the elements, including flocks of ravaging crows. I stopped by for just under an hour and saw 30+ birds at least. Bricks, concrete pipes and smart-looking decoys were spread over a fenced off area. We could safely watch them from outside. Well done, Saga WBSJ!

Some were 'dating'...

... Others were raising kids

When this bird stood up we could see 3 eggs

Another one is keeping them warm and hidden

Different species: Little Ringed Plover baby, コチドリ

Parents got upset with intruders

In the farthest corner: 3 chicks

Will you be my darling?

With my new friends

First things first
