Kumamoto birding

I got out of the car to scan the river and I saw 4 Crested Kingfishers, ヤマセミ . 2 Pairs seemed to be chasing each other, fighting for territory.

A Black Kite,トビ cruising overhead

some buntings I had not seen for a while: Rustic Bunting, カシラダカ

At a frozen stream a Brown Dipper, カワガラス on ice. . . sounds like a new kind of  New Years drink :-)
