Mountain birds

Stealing an hour or 2 before work, I didn't think I would see much. But sometimes you get lucky
Chinese Bamboo Partridge,

Asian Brown Flycatcher,

Oriental Greenfinch,

And the star of the morning: Narcissus Flycatcher,

A week before at another mountain:

The place was full of butterflies. I took just a few

I will add their names later. Gotta go now.

Red-rumped Swallow,

After a quiet morning in the woods I was about to get in the car when this bird came to stop on the wire right in front of me.

After a few minutes he or she nose-dived down to a muddy corner of an unused construction site

The bill full of mud - that means a nest is in the making somewhere...

The bird came back to sit in front of me several times. It was calling loud for a while and yes... another one showed up.

It is hard to tell, but the bird on the left seemed to have a slightly shorter tail. Would that be the female then, and the bird on the right her mate?

I waited on the mountain road to see them collecting mud from the car. Not too long, they seemed reluctant to return to the nest.

Good luck you two!

Spring birds around Fukuoka 3: Thrushes and juveniles

In the city parks the winter thrushes had left, making place for temporary visitors:
Eyebrowed Thrush,

After most of the colorful flycatchers had moved on there was just the
Asian Brown Flycatcher,

The resident birds were proudly presenting their offspring
Great Tit,

trying out some self-caught... leaves

Still not sure about the place... What am I doing here actually?

Next the cutest of all bird babies: Long-tailed Tit,

So cute!

Spring birds around Fukuoka 2: Black-winged Stilt,

I can't help but stop for these elegant Black-winged Stilts, Seen at various times of the day. The end of the afternoon, when the sunlight was soft:

A bit of evening red coming in

Early in the morning, beginning of May.

Later that month at midday, the light was too harsh.
